This show will make you take pause as there are elements that are very Alexander and they are executed flawlessly. Sarah Burton gives us a collection of rare birds beautifully flocked together with endless detail.

The 50s has been quite a popular decade of reference for Spring 12, and in Paris it looks to outweigh the 20s flapper era that was so evident in Milan. We’ve seen various expressions of the 50s already in New York, London and Milan, ranging from 50s housewives to Palm Springs ladies. In Paris, Rochas explores the 50s screen siren recalling Hitchcock film heroines. In all expressions, full silhouettes are key on both skirts and dresses, while sophisticated pencil skirts are also featured.

I have to say this was the most melancholy show YSL has done. The color story was disjointed and very “fall-like” and there was no signature YSL proportioning to hold the namesake together apart from a few black numbers at the finale. The tuck scarves seemed to be the only new thing happening in this collection.

Something amazing went on in this show. Rick Owens pushed past the monochromatic to unleash a matriarchal medieval village adding color from the ashes and playing with light to really capture the collections depth.

Ricardo Tisci demonstrated, yet again, his relentlessness attention to detail, tailoring and understanding of the female body with gis SS12 collection. A slightly different essence to his normal dark palette, Tisci played with pastel colors while keeping that edgy Givenchy vibe in the hardware. This was hands-down my favorite show so far this season and I think we can all agree those shoes with shark tooth closure are the perfect balance of femininity and traditional Tisci touch.
